There are two weeks left in FPL and it’s time to be ruthless. If you need to climb, free up budget and minutes for players who can actually haul; if you’re happy with your rank, tidy the bench and lock in a safe route to points. Below are five players I’d be actively moving on before the GW37 deadline, with reasons so you can act fast.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (5.8m)
Leeds have essentially nothing left to play for, which raises the risk of rotation, early subs and falling motivation. Brighton next is a tricky test, then West Ham away on the final day – both fixtures favour taking him out rather than banking on a surprise return. Move him to someone from a team still fighting for something; you want starters with clear incentives in these last two weeks.
Marcus Tavernier (5.4m)
If you brought Tavernier for the DGW he’s been incredibly unlucky with returns, but Manchester City up next makes him a challenging hold this week. Even good attackers can struggle for returns against the top sides, and you don’t want an underperforming midfielder taking up a key spot when you could invest elsewhere with higher upside potential. Consider selling for a midfielder with firmer minutes and more favourable short‑term fixtures.
Maxence Lacroix (5.2m)
I expect Palace to pick a strong XI on the final day, but for GW37 rotation risk is real – European commitments change selection patterns and minute guarantees evaporate. Lacroix’s minutes and attacking threat are useful when nailed, but with Palace’s attention elsewhere he’s a risky way to spend a slot now. Free the money and target a defender with nailed minutes and concrete clean‑sheet potential in the final run in.
Joachim Andersen (5.5m)
Andersen’s red card in GW36 means he’s suspended for the remainder of the season, so he occupies a squad spot without offering returns. A suspended player on your bench is exactly the opposite of what you need with two weeks left. Replace him immediately with someone who can actually play and contribute. If you don’t have triple Arsenal, this is a great opportunity to go for it.
Ollie Watkins (8.7m)
Watkins is a top player but the short‑term picture is brutal: Liverpool then Manchester City, with Villa likely to rotate heavily ahead of their Europa League final. For 8.7m you can find forwards with clearer minutes and easier fixtures over the final two gameweeks. If you’re chasing rank, don’t waste a premium forward slot on a heavy rotation risk this week – upgrade to someone with a higher immediate ceiling. A straight swap to Viktor Gyökeres is ideal.
