Godsmack And Alice Cooper Bring Backstage Energy to 933 WMMR’s MMWBQ

Godsmack touched down at Philadelphia’s 933 WMMR for the station’s MMWBQ event today, and they made it count. Sully Erna shared a candid photo from backstage showing the band linking up with rock icon Alice Cooper. Fam, the energy in that shot was real.

The photo, credited to photographer Cerealkyler, captured a genuine behind-the-scenes moment between two rock crews who clearly had some catching up to do. Erna kept the caption short: “Great time catching up with @alicecooper at @933wmmr #MMWBQ!”

MMWBQ is a Philadelphia tradition. 933 WMMR – one of the city’s best-known rock radio stations – has been hosting the annual event for years. It draws big names from across the rock world to the Philly area and packs a full day of live performances and radio-driven programming. Getting on that bill is a real deal for any rock act.

For Godsmack, this kind of event is familiar territory. The Massachusetts-born hard rock band formed in Salem in the late ’90s and never really looked back. Sully Erna’s gritty vocals put the group on the map fast. Albums like “Faceless” and “IV” built their reputation. Songs like “I Stand Alone” and “Awake” still hit on rock radio today. The band has been grinding for close to three decades, and they’re still doing it.

Alice Cooper operates on a different tier. The Detroit-born shock-rock pioneer has been in the game since the late 1960s. His theatrical live shows helped shape what rock concerts could be. Albums like “Billion Dollar Babies” and “Welcome to My Nightmare” put him in any serious conversation about rock’s all-time greats. He’s still actively touring and recording. At this point in rock history, Cooper is flat-out an institution.

Catching up backstage at a radio event like MMWBQ is the kind of organic moment that can’t really be staged. There was no big announcement tied to the photo. Two respected acts crossed paths and gave each other their flowers. Cerealkyler was there to document it for the timeline.

For Philly rock fans, today’s MMWBQ clearly delivered. Having both Godsmack and Alice Cooper on the grounds in the same afternoon is a stacked day by any measure. The backstage meetup photo is a nice bonus on top of whatever went down on stage.

Fam, shoutout to 933 WMMR for continuing to build these kinds of spaces. Rock culture in Philadelphia is in good hands. 🤘
