Ayo, Alan Cumming is heading to Frameline with a full LGBTQ musical in tow. Kiloran Bay, the indie film written, directed, and scored by Michael Bruce, has locked in a screening at the Frameline Film Festival. The date is June 19, 2026, 8pm at The New Parkway Theatre. Clear your calendar.

The film’s official Instagram confirmed the festival slot this week. The announcement rolled out a complete cast and crew list. Starring alongside Cumming are Jack Wolfe, Giles Terera, and Stuart Thompson. David Fynn and David Hayman also star. For an independent production, that lineup is flat-out impressive.

Michael Bruce ran the entire creative operation here. He wrote the screenplay, directed, and composed all the music and lyrics. The score was recorded at Black Isle and GloWorm studios. Music is performed by Bruce, Jenna Reid, and Anna Massie. Vocals come from Cumming and Wolfe. For Bruce, getting those two in the same musical is a real flex. That’s not easy casting to pull off for an indie film.

Alan Cumming can sing. That’s not even a debate. He’s a Tony Award winner for his iconic run as the Emcee in Cabaret on Broadway. He spent several seasons playing political operative Eli Gold on The Good Wife. He’s been openly bisexual for years. He’s consistently advocated for LGBTQ visibility in film and on stage. An indie queer musical is right in his lane.

Jack Wolfe has been building real momentum. Landing a lead in a Frameline selection is a real statement for his career. Giles Terera brings heavyweight stage credentials, and his presence alone raises the profile of this whole film. David Fynn and David Hayman round out the cast. The whole lineup looks locked in.

The executive producer lineup has a major co-sign at the front. Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita are both attached. Ferguson played Mitchell Pritchett for eleven seasons on Modern Family. He and Mikita have consistently backed LGBTQ storytelling. Their involvement signals what kind of film Kiloran Bay really is.

The production companies are Grasp The Nettle Films and Hazel Pictures. The film was made in association with Cowboy Films, MB Studios, and Eric Kuhn Productions. Additional executive producers include Bird Street Productions’ James Costa and Trevor Burgess, along with Jonathan Cohen and Stephanie Hensen Dittmer. Fiscal sponsorship came from The Film Collaborative, with support from NYCT and the SOFA fund.

Behind the camera, Ian Forbes handled cinematography and Vicki Manderson choreographed. Giorgio Galli edited and Liberty Bramall designed costumes. Creep Studio handled visual effects and Jumbuck managed sound post.

Frameline is the world’s longest-running LGBTQ+ film festival, founded in San Francisco in 1977. An 8pm slot on June 19 puts Kiloran Bay in front of exactly the right crowd. Past Frameline selections have gone on to major critical recognition and wider distribution.

No streaming release or broader rollout has been announced. The June 19 screening at The New Parkway Theatre is the only confirmed date right now. Frameline Film Festival handles all ticketing and event details.
