Google has launched ‘Personal Intelligence’ for the Gemini app in Canada. Personal Intelligence allows Gemini to tailor its responses by using data from your Google ecosystem, starting with Gmail, Photos, Search and your YouTube history.
While Gemini was already using information from these apps, Personal Intelligence will now reason across your data to surface useful information. For instance, if you take a picture of your car months ago, and ask Google, “What tires should I get?” Personal Intelligence will look at the photo of your car, identify the make/model and offer information about what tires you should get based on those details.
Personal Intelligence is available for Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers in Canada and will be rolling out to free users over the next few weeks.
Once it’s enabled, it works across Web, Android, and iOS, as well as with all the models of Gemini in the model picker. However, this feature is available only for personal Google accounts, and not for Workspace business, enterprise, or education users.
Personal Intelligence is off by default. And Gemini will reportedly use Personal Intelligence only when it’d be helpful to do so. You can also connect some apps without connecting others, allowing you to personalize what data it can access.
Gemini will continue to personalize your experience and reference past chats by default, which you can stop by turning off the setting called “Past Gemini chats.” You can also manage and delete past chats at any time.
