Jake Anderson has been on the Deadliest Catch since 2007. Viewers watched him advance from a deckhand to a captain. They’ve watched him maneuver through treacherous waters and several professional setbacks. Through it all, he made it clear that his wife and children were his purpose. He made the shocking announcement during the Season 22 premiere that his marriage is over. Keep reading to find out the latest details he revealed about the divorce.
Jake Anderson Blames Show For Marriage Ending?
Jake Anderson met his wife at an autograph signing in 2009. When they tied the knot in 2012, his Deadliest Catch co-star, captain Sig Hansen, officiated the ceremony. The couple shares three children – son Aiden, 11, daughter Cadence, 8, and son Luka, 6. He’s missed several huge milestones in his life due to his career.
And now he’s lost his marriage. Jake Anderson revealed on the Season 22 premiere in early May that they were divorcing. The new season of Deadliest Catch was reportedly filmed in late 2025. Jake Anderson said that they had already been separated for eight months at that point.
“After 17 years being together, 13 years married, Jenna and I have decided to call it quits,” he candidly told the cameras. Is the show to blame? The captain added, “It’s due to a lot of things. The major one is that I’m gone too much crab fishing.”
His lack of a steady paycheck was another issue. He shared more details in the second episode of Season 22. “It sucks going through a divorce that you don’t even want to happen. Jenna left me, and now I’m here,” he said. Jake Anderson also opened up about the finances of the divorce.

Deadliest Catch Star To Shell Out Big Bucks In Divorce
After being married for nearly 20 years, Jenna Anderson was entitled to half of her former husband’s assets. He received a phone call from his lawyer during Episode 2. The lawyer jokingly told the Deadliest Catch star to bring them some crab. “I will. Get me to not pay alimony, and I’ll give you a house,” Jake Anderson replied.
The lawyer later issued a stark warning to the crab fisherman. After previously advising their client not to put more money in the Titan Explorer, Jake Anderson became the captain of the iconic Cornelia Marie, previously captained by the late Phil Harris.
“Once a divorce is filed, it’s business funds. I recommend putting it in a business account,” the lawyer advised, before confirming that Jenna Anderson is still entitled to half of her ex-husband’s money.

In another confessional, he opened up about missing his former wife. “I miss Jenna a lot, but I do this for one reason and one reason only, and that’s my kids. That’s what I’m here to do. It’s a lot of pressure to have on me, the fact that this was Phil’s boat, but this is just the beginning,” he said.
Deadliest Catch airs on Discovery on Fridays at 8 PM Eastern. Share your reaction to the shocking divorce in the comments.
