Earlier this year, Joseph Duggar went to jail after he was charged with child molestation. As time goes on, the story continues to develop. Now, Joseph’s lawyer has revealed some new details about his upcoming trial. Keep reading for more details on Joseph’s case.
Joseph Duggar Goes To Jail
It’s no secret at this point that the Duggar family has been in hot water. Now, Joseph has made his way to jail after being accused of child molestation. At the time of the crime, a nine-year-old came forward stating that Joseph assaulted her on family vacation.
The reality TV star has pled not guilty to both charges and has been released from jail on a $60,000 bond.
Since all of this has gone down, It’s taken a major toll on his family. His wife, Kendra, has been experiencing some health issues. Not only that, but the couple has even opted to sell their home.
The house, which sits on 1.14 acres of land, is a 3-bed, 2-bath house and is 1,738 square feet. There are also a few other properties on the land. The family uses these properties to rent out as short-term stays. In addition to selling their family home, they have also been selling their personal belongings.
Updates On His Trial
Now, Joseph’s trial date is quickly approaching. At his pre-trial this week, his lawyer shared some new details. He will be calling four witnesses to the stand to give a deposition for the Counting On star The Ashley reports. Joseph was not present at this hearing and was instead represented by his attorney, Albert J. Sauline.
“There are only five witnesses listed in the case, one of which is of course the juvenile alleged victim, so realistically we’re looking at only four witnesses to be deposed minus any court order allowing a deposition of the alleged victim,” the lawyer says.
As mentioned above, it’s still unclear if the victim of the crimes will answer questions under oath during the trial. She is now 14-year-old and a trial this big is probably pretty intimidating for someone who can’t even drive yet. However, at this point, there is no telling what she will end up doing.
Only time will tell how this case ends up. It seems like for now, Joseph is lying low in Arkansas until he is forced to come forward. As of now, the next court date for Joseph’s case will be on September 15.
