Joseph Gordon-Levitt has reportedly expanded the cast for 2034, his upcoming AI thriller for Netflix, after previously casting Rachel McAdams, Joel Edgerton, Jeff Daniels, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Caleb McLaughlin. Alfre Woodard, Toni Collette, Chloe Coleman and Sagar Radia have reportedly joined the cast for the film, which will be written and directed by Gordon-Levitt, who shares screenplay credits with Kieran Fitzgerald and Natasha Lyonne holding story concept credits as well.
Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman will produce for T-Street.
The project was announced in late 2024, with news of Netflix’s picking up the rights in October 2025. Anne Hathaway was initially hired for McAdams‘ role yet exited the project in late 2025.
Plot outlines are yet to be revealed.
This will be Gordon-Levitt‘s second directorial feature credit following 2013’s Don Jon, which he starred in alongside MCU star Scarlet Johannsson. He also holds directing credits on the series Mr Cormon for Apple TV.
Coleman’s known acting credits include Big Little Lies, the My Spy series, Avatar: The Way of Water, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Pain Hustlers. Meanwhile, Collette is credited for her beloved work on Hereditary, Wayward, and Knives Out, as well as the cult classic comedy Muriel’s Wedding and the chilling Christmas horror film, Krampus.
As for Woodard, she has recently appeared in The Boroughs and The Last Frontier, for Netflix and Apple TV. Radia is most recognised for her work in Industry.
