Notable trial moments involving L.L. and J.L.
There were many notable moments during this months-long trial, including ones involving the boys themselves.
In January, court saw 2021 footage of L.L, the older brother, in a wetsuit, crying and repeatedly asking for food.
Over several days in November, J.L. testified, saying he was restrained and locked in his room, isolated from his big brother, and given only pureed food.
The court also heard recordings of the couple mocking J.L., and saw pictures of foot cuts he said were due to restraints the women applied to his feet.
In cross-examination, the defence worked to paint J.L. as unreliable.
Hamber’s lawyer, Monte MacGregor, suggested the boy was making up testimony to help his mother win a $4-million lawsuit, which the co-accused, the children’s aid societies and three doctors are named in.
