Kate and Jon Gosselin let TLC cameras into their home to document raising their eight young children. They welcomed twins and later sextuplets via IVF. However, their relationship became strained once the show began airing. They divorced during the show’s fifth season. The show continued with Kate as a single mom. She’s now estranged from her son Collin. The former reality star is reportedly “nervous” about what he reveals in his upcoming memoir. Keep reading for more details.
Collin Gosselin Set To Expose Alleged Abuse
Kate Gosselin was awarded custody of her eight children after her divorce. In 2016, she sent her son Collin, 12, to a behavior clinic in Pennsylvania. She claimed he exhibited violent and unpredictable behavior. He was institutionalized until 2018, when his father was awarded custody.
Collin Gosselin has made shocking accusations that his mother was abusive to him during his childhood. He previously claimed that he was locked in the basement. Now 22, he announced this week that he wrote a memoir about growing up on reality TV and what happened off-camera.
“Collin is finally sharing the truth about being held down, the basement cell where he was hidden for years, and the cocktail of powerful antipsychotics forced on an 11-year-old boy. This is a reckoning with the dark side of fame: the systems, the entourage, and the institutions that allowed one boy to be erased,” the book’s description said.
Kate Gosselin ‘Nervous’ About Son’s Explosive Tell-All Book
In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood doesn’t come out until October. But Kate Gosselin is reportedly already worried about what bombshells her son revealed in the book. The former TLC star hasn’t addressed the memoir publicly yet. However, a source revealed to Reality Blurb how she’s feeling about it.
“There were jokes going around that Kate is very nervous about Collin’s book. While she hasn’t commented, if she is indeed nervous, she should be,” the source said.

The insider added, “Of course she will likely either take one of two paths – ignore it or deny it. But… there will be some explosive stuff. Fans who followed Kate from day 1 are ABSOLUTELY going to want to read this and get his take on who he was really raised by.”
She Claps Back At Rude Comments
Kate Gosselin resurfaced on TikTok last year. She recently adopted a rescue dog and has been sharing the stress of training it. But she also shares glimpses of her life and work. She’s a pediatric healthcare nurse. One follower called her out on her line of work amid abuse allegations from Collin.
“How can you work for other families with high needs children when you sent your own away? You had years to change your mind and make it right, and you dug your heels in. You don’t deserve peace and comfort. You’re more attached to your dogs than your own kids because you have mental disorders you haven’t dealt with,” they wrote.

Kate Gosselin responded to the comment. She wrote, “You are spouting accusations based on zero facts. You didn’t live our lives, and none of us lived the life that is being portrayed as ‘truth!’”
Her comment gives a little insight into how she might handle the backlash once Collin Gosselin’s book is published. In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood hits bookstores on Tuesday, October 13.
