Kathy Griffin recently got fans talking with a recent share on social media. Since then, Griffin has opened up about the story, explaining more about what’s going on. During this, she also made note of the different reactions she’s been receiving over the stories.
Reality Star Kathy Griffin Recently Made Headlines With A Big Post
Griffin is a comedian and actress with a career spanning decades, starting in the 1980s. For many, she is best known for her Bravo reality show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. The show, which proved to be a ratings hit for the network, originally ran from 2005 to 2010.
In recent years, Griffin has become known for her weekly podcast, “Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off.” Recently, however, Griffin got fans talking with a recent share on social media.
As previously reported, Griffin got many fans talking with a recent post on Instagram, in which she could be seen with a mystery man over 40 years her junior. At the time, she captioned the post, “He’s 22. Have at it, internet.”
This led to various publications reporting that Griffin had a new love in her life. This followed Griffin’s divorce from Randy Bick last year, whom she married in 2020. Prior to this, she was married to Matt Moline from 2001 to 2006.
Griffin Noted That Responses Were Mostly Positive
However, since the story went viral, Griffin recently took to social media to explain what was really going on. In a follow-up post, she described what happened as a “social media sociological experiment” of sorts. As she explained, “No, I am not dating this 22-year-old. He was helping with security during my trip to NYC.”
That said, the star wondered about what things would be like if she and the mystery man were really together. As Griffin noted, she got quite the mixed reaction. Instagram comments tended to be supportive, celebrating her for going after what made her happy. On Threads, however, she noted she was accused of “grooming” and that people were discussing the double standard of age gaps in relationships.
Griffin mused, “Older men have been dating young women since the beginning of time…just ask Luke Wilson, 54, who just had a beautiful baby with his 24-year-old girlfriend or Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, Jay-Z and Beyonce…some of the most long-lasting beautiful relationships in my beloved (though ageist and sexist) industry.” She continued, “Relax… just a little harmless fun with you guys with an IG post.”
