Kelly Ripa has been absent from her daytime talk show for the last week. She’s recovering after dental surgery. The former soap star had gum graft surgery. According to her husband, she’s not following the doctor’s orders. Therefore, it’s no surprise that she’s also pushing for weight loss drugs despite her doctor’s refusal to prescribe them for her. Keep reading for all the details.
Kelly Ripa Pushes For Weight Loss Drugs Despite Doctor’s Refusal
Kelly Ripa is expected to return to LIVE with Kelly and Mark on Monday, August 3. She is under strict orders not to talk. However, she pre-recorded several episodes of her podcast. The Real Housewives of Orange County star Terry Dubrow joined her for an episode of Let’s Talk Off Camera.
Terry Dubrow is a well-respected and board-certified plastic surgeon. But he also has a new title to his name. When the topic turned to weight loss drugs, he assured Kelly Ripa that he’s an expert in that field as well. “I recently got certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine, so I’m not just a plastic surgeon talking about these drugs,” he told her.
The Botched star has been a big supporter of GLP-1 drugs for years. In fact, he thinks everyone should take them, even in small, “microdose” amounts. “[The drugs are] so incredibly useful, because, as you know, what they do is they force sugar into the cells, right? Less sugar in the blood, less inflammation, less all of the side effects related to inflammation from sugar,” he said.
Terry Dubrow continued, “If everyone’s sort of on a microdose, even if you’re sort of skinny, right, it is good for the brain, liver, kidney. I mean, it even has indications now above and beyond weight loss. It’s good for, you know, kidney disease. It’s good for fatty liver. They use it for addictions now. This drug, this is the drug of the future.”

Kelly Ripa jumped on the suggestion. But she knew her primary doctor wouldn’t prescribe it. “So, but who do we talk to?” she asked the RHOC star. “Like, if Jan and I were to walk into our GP’s office and say, I need you to give me a GLP-1 microdose. I know they will say no to us. They will say, you’re so thin, we are not doing that. So what, what, what language should we use?”
Terry Dubrow recommended seeing a “longevity medicine specialist” if you don’t meet the FDA criteria for GLP-1s. “If you go to a longevity doctor, okay, this is the new frontier of medicine, right? They’re going to talk to you about GLP1 drugs above and beyond obesity,” he told Kelly Ripa and listeners.
LIVE Host Discovers ‘Perfect’ Breast Implants For Her Size
Kelly Ripa is one of the rare women in Hollywood with her natural breasts. She previously revealed that she had several breast augmentation consultations over the years, but ultimately decided the risks outweighed the rewards.
But Dr. Dubrow told her about a new “ballerina breast” implant that she said sounded “perfect” for her. He further convinced her by revealing that the new implants have “less than one percent chance” of capsular contracture, which is a complication that occurs when scar tissue tightens around an implant.
Was Kelly Ripa joking about getting a doctor to prescribe weight loss drugs or getting breast implants? Maybe, but maybe not. Stay tuned for more details once she returns to LIVE with Kelly and Mark.
