Kensington Cares, the social impact program of Kensington – has launched the Kensington Fieldwork Grant, a new annual funding initiative established in partnership with the Royal Geographical Society.

The grants will help support ambitious geographical exploration, field-based research and storytelling projects with the potential to create meaningful positive impact around the world.

Funded through the support of Jeff Willner, Founder and CEO of Kensington, the program will provide four annual grants of £25,000 (US$34,000) each to experienced individuals or teams of any nationality undertaking fieldwork that deepens understanding of our planet and helps address some of the most pressing challenges facing communities and environments today.

The Kensington Fieldwork Grant reflects a shared belief that exploration remains as important today as ever before. As communities, ecosystems and environments face increasingly complex challenges, field-based research plays a critical role in expanding our understanding of the world and uncovering solutions that can benefit people and places globally.

Jeff Willner, Founder and CEO of Kensington, said: “At Kensington, we believe that understanding the world is the first step toward improving it. Exploration has always been about more than discovering new places but is about uncovering new perspectives, asking important questions and sharing knowledge that can make a difference.”

And Willner continued: “Through the Kensington Fieldwork Grant, we are proud to support researchers, explorers and storytellers whose work helps us better understand our planet and the challenges and opportunities that will shape its future.”

The grants will support projects across geographical and related disciplines, including environmental research, conservation, cultural documentation, investigative journalism, scientific exploration and other field-based initiatives that contribute to a greater understanding of our rapidly changing world. Funded projects will exemplify the values of modern exploration: curiosity, rigorous inquiry, critical thinking, ethical practice and the responsible sharing of knowledge.

Administered by the Royal Geographical Society, the Kensington Fieldwork Grant reflects a shared commitment to advancing geographical understanding and supporting those working on the front lines of discovery.

The Kensington Fieldwork Grant builds upon Kensington Cares’ broader commitment to supporting initiatives that foster education, conservation, cultural preservation and community development around the world. As part of this commitment, Kensington has the 1% Promise, a contribution of one percent of annual sales to charitable and community causes and empowers travelers to support local organizations through donation matching. Together, these efforts reflect Kensington’s belief that travel can be a force for deeper understanding and positive change.

Applications for the Kensington Fieldwork Grant are now open and will be accepted through Jan. 8, 2027 from established researchers across geographical and related disciplines, as well as experienced storytellers and expedition teams.
