Kelly Ripa Undergoes ‘Painful’ Surgery
Kelly Ripa won’t be on LIVE this week after undergoing a “painful” surgery. The daytime talk show host went under the knife for dental work. Mark Consuelos said that her dentist has been telling her for years that she needs a gum graft. But she put it off until last week. Her husband described the recovery as painful.
“She famously doesn’t feel pain. When she goes into the dentist, she doesn’t use the Novocaine. But this one hurts, so I know it’s bad,” he said. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a gum graft is used to treat receding and thinning gums. Healthy gum tissue is transferred to exposed tooth roots. The procedure helps reduce tooth sensitivity and overall gum health.
Mark Consuelos Calls Her Out For Ignoring Doctor’s Orders
Kevin Jonas filled in for Kelly Ripa on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday’s show, he asked how she’s feeling. Mark Consuelos said that his wife was “feeling better” but not following the doctor’s orders.
Kelly Ripa was told not to talk, among other instructions. “But she’s doing it without moving her bottom lip,” he told Kevin Jonas about his wife breaking the rules. Mark Consuelos said that he tried to get her to follow the doctor’s instructions the best that he could.
One rule she is following is to eat soft foods. “We had ice cream delivered last night from our good friends out in Palm Springs. Really good ice cream,” Mark Consuelos shared. Keeping quiet is a rule most people would have trouble following, but it’s probably especially difficult for Kelly Ripa, who talks for a living.
