On Patrol: Live is mourning the loss of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office as they say goodbye. The Tennessee-based fan favorite has just announced their departure, and no one is happy about this. So, did they share why they are exiting and if they will be back? Keep reading for more on what they have had to say and viewer reactions.
Knox County Ends Its Time
In November 2024, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office joined On Patrol: Live. Instantly, they became fan favorites, especially Deputy Dalton Swanger. Sadly, in June 2025, he was struck in the head while on the job and on live television. Viewers were stunned by what they saw and could not believe this was real life. Moreover, they were terrified for Swanger and prayed for his quick recovery. It took nearly a year, but he was back on the job after many months of worrying and procedures. Unfortunately, no sooner was he back at work and on OPL than it was announced that Knox County would be exiting.
Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office (SC) will be taking its spot, and fans are excited to see a new office. However, they loved how proactive Knox County and their officers always were. They got the job done, and it was great to watch them. Deputy Swanger’s girlfriend, Stephania, shared that she knew it was the end for Knox on OPL when she heard his final call. His first was a domestic, the one where he was injured was domestic, and so was the last he responded to on the show.
On Patrol: Live fans seem to believe that this is a permanent move and one done by the new sheriff:
- Our new sheriff did this. The outgoing sheriff said it would be up to him to keep them. It is a shame because the department was able to use the extra funds for our brave officers and their needs.
- This makes me so sad. Also, many cities and counties take breaks, but this sounds more permanent. Is Knox County not ever coming back?
A Sad End
As of now, no one knows what will happen with Knox County. It would be great if an On Patrol: Live fan uprising led to its return. A switch of departments is always a good thing, but not knowing if they will ever be back is a hard pill to swallow:
