The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian offensive lineman Anthony Vandal, the team announced on Monday.

The 28-year-old made 15 starts at guard for the Toronto Argonauts in 2025 — 12 at right guard and three at left guard. He was recently released as part of the team’s final roster cuts.

The native of Sorel-Tracy, Que. was originally an eighth-round pick in the 2023 CFL Draft out of the Université de Sherbrooke. He returned to school for his final year of collegiate eligibility that year before signing back with the Argonauts in 2024, helping them win the Grey Cup.

The signing comes after starting centre Justin Lawrence was injured during Montreal’s season-opening win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Alouettes have also signed American receiver Terique Owens, Canadian receiver Kaseem Ferdinand, and Canadian defensive lineman Ty Anderson.

Owens recently attended training camp with the team in Quebec City. The six-foot-three, 200-pound target finished his collegiate career at Missouri State University, where he caught 28 passes for 528 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. The native of Pleasanton, Calif. had a previous stint on the practice roster with the San Francisco 49ers and is also the son of former NFL star Terrell Owens.

Ferdinand had a stint with Montreal in 2025 following his collegiate career at Carleton University, where he was named a second-team U Sports All-Canadian in 2024. The five-foot-ten, 180-pound target is the son of Denny Ferdinand, who played in the CFL with Montreal, Ottawa, and Saskatchewan.

Anderson was a fourth-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and played nine regular-season games as a rookie, though he was recently let go as part of the team’s final cuts. The 23-year-old was a Canada West all-star during his collegiate career at the University of Alberta.

Montreal has also cut American receiver Zakhari Franklin from the practice roster.

The Montreal Alouettes (1-0) will host the Toronto Argonauts (0-0) at Percival Molson Stadium on Friday, June 12, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Argonauts were on a bye in Week 1, while the Alouettes are coming off an overtime victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 25 degrees and a 20 percent chance of rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, and CFL+ in the United States and internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on TSN 1050 in Toronto, TSN 690 in Montreal, or 99.5 Montreal in French.
