Gore is a lifestyle host for NBC and its LXTV arm. She is known for hosting NBC’s New York-based real estate and design show, Open House. She also hosts New York Live, NBC4 New York’s daily lifestyle series.
Early in her career, Gore worked as a personal chef. Thanks to this, she has appeared in various cooking-themed segments and shows over the years, including The Martha Stewart Show and Beat Bobby Flay.
During the April 30 episode of New York Live, Gore shared an emotional admission on air. She shared that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was stepping away from her role on the show.
Addressing viewers, Gore shared, “It just felt right to tell you myself, I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and I’m going to be stepping away for treatment and surgery. If I didn’t say that I was a little bit scared, I’d be lying.”
Gore’s mother and sister had previously been diagnosed with breast cancer. However, she still found herself shocked by the news.
The NBC hostess continued, “I always knew I was high-risk. I always assumed this day would come. But let me tell you, you are never ready.”
Despite Being Shocked By The Diagnosis, Gore Expressed Hope For The Future
Tearfully, Gore shared, “For some reason, even when you catch it early because you’re doing everything right, it is an emotional blow. I wasn’t ready for that. That actually really surprised me. It really stung. It’s stinging right now.”
Gore also let fans know that she was surrounded by support. This included both the doctors who aided in her medical care and the people who were taking care of her at home. She also thanked her NBC New York colleagues for their support, sharing that she felt “loved.”
Gore didn’t elaborate on her treatment, especially how long she would be gone. However, she expressed hope, sharing that she would be back after she had the time to rest up and heal. She shared, “I’m going to come back better than ever, and I’m going to see you on the other side of this. Thank you for all you’ve done.”
