Netherlands have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match Women’s ODI series against Scotland, with the tour set to take place from August 28 to September 1. The series represents an important opportunity for the Dutch side to measure its progress away from home while beginning a fresh chapter under new head coach Pierre de Bruyn.

Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Babette de Leede has been handed the captaincy, providing the squad with an experienced figure to guide a group that combines established internationals with promising young players.

Pierre de Bruyn begins Netherlands tenure

The Scotland tour will be Pierre de Bruyn’s first official assignment since taking charge of the Netherlands Women’s team earlier this year. The former South African first-class cricketer arrives with a reputation for tactical awareness and an ambitious approach to the game.

His appointment has generated plenty of interest around the Dutch setup, particularly with the team looking to develop greater consistency in 50-over cricket. The Scotland series should offer an early indication of how De Bruyn intends to shape the side and whether his ideas can translate into results on the international stage. With the Netherlands aiming to strengthen its position within the wider ICC women’s cricket pathway, every overseas series carries added significance.

Noa Mai earns maiden international call-up

One of the most eye-catching selections is uncapped youngster Noa Mai, who has earned her first call-up to the senior Netherlands squad. Her performances in domestic and regional cricket have reportedly put her firmly on the selectors’ radar. The series could provide Mai with an opportunity to make her international debut and begin what the Dutch camp will hope becomes a long and productive career.

Alongside her, the squad retains a solid core of experienced players. De Leede will have an important role both at the top of the batting order and behind the stumps, while Robine Rijke and Iris Zwilling add valuable all-round ability.

Spin could play a key role

Netherlands also possess several spin options who could become influential as the series progresses. Sanya Khurana, Silver Siegers and Caroline de Lange are expected to form an important part of the bowling attack and could look to exploit any assistance available from Scottish conditions. The balance between youth and experience gives the Netherlands several options as they prepare for what should be a competitive three-match contest.

Netherlands Women’s squad for Scotland tour: Babette de Leede (c/wk), Carlijn van Koolwijk, Caroline de Lange, Frederique Overdijk, Hannah Landheer, Iris Zwilling, Lara Leemhuis, Merel Dekeling, Myrthe van den Raad, Noa Mai, Phebe Molkenboer, Robine Rijke, Rosalie Lawrence, Sanya Khurana, Silver Siegers.
