Travellers in Spain and the US will be able to fly directly between Valencia or Ibiza to New York from next summer.
United Airlines is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year by announcing 10 new flight routes, which includes one to Valencia and one to Ibiza in the Balearic Islands.
After 15 years, the city of Valencia will once again have a direct flight connection to the Big Apple.
The route will run between Manises Airport in Valencia and Newark Airport in New Jersey and offer three flights per week starting from June 2nd, 2027.
The route is expected to be seasonal and will mainly be offered between June and October, although the airline has yet to confirm.
Although it won’t start the service until next summer, tickets are already available to purchase via the United Airlines website.
Prices currently range from €700 ($815) to €1,000 ($1,164) per passenger in economy class for return tickets.
The Mediterranean city has had to wait many years to regain a connection to the US city. Between 2009 and 2012, Delta Air Lines operated a route, but then ceased to offer it.

Another direct flight will link New York with Ibiza due to begin on May 31st, 2027.
The flight will operate four times a week to Newark and tickets are already also available online.
Currently they cost between €809 and €1026 for a return flight.
United Airlines’ regional sales manager for Spain and Portugal told Forbes magazine that the operating period for this route still need to be finalised, but it’s likely it will be from mid-May to October.
According to some media outlets, Ibiza Council had long been requesting a direct route with the US city to increase its business connections.

Up until now, flights between New York and the Balearic Island would involve a layover in Madrid, Barcelona or another European airport.
It is thought, however, that many residents won’t be happy with the announcement as they’ve already protesting for several years about overtourism and the impact tourist rentals are having on the local housing market.
The Balearic Islands government even discussed putting a cap on visitor numbers to help solve the issue, but it’s thought that the new route between the small island and one of the world’s biggest cities could increase already mounting pressure.
The number of flight connections between Spain and the US has been increasing over the last few years with around six new or expanded routes starting in 2026 alone.
These included Madrid to Boston with Delta Airlines, an expanded service between Boston and Barcelona with JetBlue, a new Delta Airlines route connecting the Catalan capital with Seattle and two United Airlines route connecting Newark with Bilbao and Santiago de Compostela.
American Airlines currently offers the largest number of direct flights between the US and Spain. It currently operates 11 routes from Barcelona and Madrid to New York JFK, Philadelphia, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, Miami, and Charlotte (the flight from Charlotte, however, only runs to and from Madrid).
