I’ve been in tech for a while and reviewed probably a couple of dozen phones by now, but I’ve yet to come across my dream phone. Now, London-based tech company Nothing has posted a video of a ‘dream phone’ it designed based on input from fans.
The problem? You won’t be able to buy it.
Based on feedback from YouTube comments, Nothing’s dream phone has an under-6-inch display with a headphone jack and a microSD card slot. The company also included a retractable camera module with two lenses, instead of a selfie camera, a 3,800mAh silicon carbon battery, two rear-facing cameras, Nothing Glyphs, and no OS.
Nothing, however, would need to make some compromises to keep the phone thin, with no fingerprint sensor, a worse processor and no 4K display. While Nothing hasn’t mentioned specific tech specs, it was able to use a thicker phone design that eliminates the camera bump, as commenters on the company’s videos hate camera bumps. But with a smaller display, 4K isn’t needed, and mid-range processors are quite capable.
The company isn’t planning on making this a reality, but it’s definitely something I’d consider reviewing.
