The Ottawa Redblacks have added Canadian fullback Emeric Boutin and Canadian defensive back King Ambers to the six-game injured list.
Boutin was selected in the second round, 13th overall during the 2026 Canadian Draft. He suffered an injury during the team’s first preseason game in Montreal.
Ambers limped off with what appeared to be a lower-body injury in the same contest at Percival Molson Stadium. He was selected by the Redblacks in the eighth round, 68th overall during the 2025 Canadian Draft. The 26-year-old suited up in nine games during his rookie CFL season last year, recording seven defensive tackles and one interception.
Meanwhile, four players have been released: American offensive lineman Quez Yates, American receiver Roc Taylor, American linebacker Bryce Ramirez and American defensive back Jordan Perryman. Those cuts opened up spots for Ottawa to sign American receiver Carl Chester, American receiver Kajiya Hollawayne and American linebacker Taniela Latu.
Chester suited up in 49 games during his NCAA career at the University of Tulsa, Marshall University and Southern Mississippi University. He recorded 73 receptions for 1,294 yards with 10 touchdowns during two seasons with the Golden Hurricane, one year with the Thunder Herd and senior campaign with the Golden Eagles.
During his 2025 season at Southern Miss, Chester registered 31 catches for 551 yards with six touchdowns in 13 games. He checked in at six-foot-three, 203 pounds at his pro day in March. The Manor, Texas native posted a 4.59-second hand-timed 40-yard dash, 4.42-second shuttle, 7.21-second three-cone drill, nine-foot, eight-inch broad jump and 31-and-a-half-inch vertical.
Hollawayne redshirted his freshman NCAA season at UCLA as a quarterback, but transferred and switched to receiver at Grambling State University in 2022. In 2023, he played 13 games at Riverside City College in California and recorded 22 receptions for 425 yards with three touchdowns. The six-foot-two, 210-pound pass catcher spent his final two years at Temple University, registering 48 catches for 609 yards and six touchdowns in 23 games with the Owls.
At his pro day in March, Hollawayne recorded a 4.54-second hand-timed 40-yard dash, 4.32-second shuttle, 7.19-second three-cone drill, 10-foot, six-inch broad jump and 36-and-a-half-inch vertical along with pushing 225 pounds 13 times on the bench press.
Latu spent three seasons at San Jose State University. He recorded 179 total tackles, 86 solo, 18 tackles for loss, five passes defended, two sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 36 games.
