This season of Reacher is epic; I’m talking epic in every sense of the word. They have taken this show to the next level. If you thought the previous three seasons were amazing, you are in for one hell of a ride with this one. The series sees the return of Alan Ritchson in the title role alongside a cast of new characters.

Season 4 throws a lot at Reacher, and I genuinely think this is the most cinematic season yet. Ritchson once again proves that he was born to play this role. He is absolutely fantastic in the role, and his ability to switch between being intimidating, brutal and surprisingly soft works brilliantly. His chemistry with the other characters is also fantastic. And, my God, he looks huge in this. Imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator… then imagine Reacher. Once again, Reacher finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time — or perhaps, knowing Reacher, the right place at the right time.

The action this season is taken to another level. The fight scenes are brutal. The choreography is fantastic, and there are a couple of standout sequences, including an absolutely savage fight in the final episode and another in a library archive that had me wincing. This is easily some of the most brutal action we’ve seen in the series.

But it isn’t just the action. The season is packed with twists and turns, with something happening in practically every episode that kept me guessing right until the end. You never quite know who you can trust — and sometimes the person you thought you could trust was the person you absolutely shouldn’t have trusted.

The chemistry between the Police officer Jacob Merrick, played by Christopher Rodriguez Marquette (Barry), and detective Tamara Green,  portrayed by Sydelle Noel (Glow), is excellent. At the same time, Team Reacher feels more fleshed out than ever. I was genuinely impressed with the new additions to the team and how they fitted into the story.

The Stakes this time around move from a small-town level to a worldwide issue, and Reacher fulfils his capacity to become one of the screen’s great action heroes, and then there’s the dialogue. Some moments feel straight out of an 80s or 90s action movie, which honestly just elevated some of the scenes. One exchange sums it up perfectly: “Which one’s Reacher?” Another character replies: “The one killing everyone.”

This is a pulse-pounding, brutal and seriously edgy season of television. If you loved the first three seasons, you are absolutely going to love this. And even if you’re new to the show, I think there’s plenty here to pull you in. Reacher Season 4 gets the full marks from me: it’s absolutely fantastic. I cannot wait for you all to check this one out!
