After Liverpool and Chelsea drew at Anfield in the first Premier League match on Saturday, two games kicked off at 15:00 GMT alongside Sunderland’s draw at home to Manchester United.

Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth strengthened their ambitions of qualifying for Europe next season, including two goals inside the first six minutes for the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium.

There were two red cards at Craven Cottage, where the Cherries extended the longest current unbeaten run in the top flight to 16 matches.

Brighton vs Wolves: Early goals help hosts move seventh

Replacing the injured Mats Wieffer, Maxim De Cuyper’s cross produced Brighton’s earliest-ever Premier League goal as Jack Hinshelwood headed in after 35 seconds against relegated Wolves.

Lewis Dunk doubled the scoreline after five minutes on the captain’s first start since March 21, heading in De Cuyper’s corner.

Yerson Mosquera headed against the crossbar for the bottom side during the second half but Yankuba Minteh’s scintillating run and emphatic finish with four minutes remaining embellished Brighton’s third successive home win.

Dunk praised former England international James Milner’s “massive influence” on Albion’s stretch of seven wins and a draw in 10 games since a poor run of form between December and February.

“When you’re on a run like that, it gets hard to change it,” added the centre-back, via Brighton’s website. “He was fundamental.

“The whole group stuck together; we were looking at relegation and now we’re talking about Europe again, so it’s a mental season.

“It’s all to play for and let’s see who comes out on top. We know what we need to do and let’s see where the season ends. Fingers crossed, it goes for us.”

Fulham vs Bournemouth: Rayan goal puts Bournemouth sixth

Rayan collected Adam Smith’s pass and struck the 53rd-minute winner from 20 yards as Bournemouth’s dazzling run of form continued to move Andoni Iraola’s side closer to a first-ever European campaign.

Joachim Andersen had earlier struck the crossbar and Fulham’s promising start continued when Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie had a yellow card upgraded to a red for a 39th-minute challenge on Timothy Castagne.

Andersen swiftly followed Christie down the tunnel following a Video Assistant Referee review of the defender’s tackle on Adrien Truffert.

“The manager has helped me so much since I arrived,” said 19-year-old Rayan (via Bournemouth’s website), who signed for an initial £24.7 million from Vasco da Gama in January.

“He really welcomed me and has made a big difference for me. I also have a great relationship with all my teammates, who have all welcomed me really well.

“[Europe is] what we’re working for – we want to finish in the European places. The Champions League? Who knows? But we need to keep working hard.

“I really hope I get called up [for Brazil]. The club is helping me a lot and the goals I’m scoring are important for my confidence.”

Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi tested the woodwork shortly before the opener and Josh King followed suit as Fulham pushed for a late equaliser.
