Season 16 of RHONY is currently underway after quite a long hiatus. In fact, viewers questioned if it would be coming back. One cast member who is officially done is Brynn Whitfield, but if she had her way, she would have been gone as soon as the reboot began. Keep reading for more details on what she had to say.
Brynn Whitfield Was Desperate To Leave
After Season 13 of RHONY, Bravo was in crisis mode. They knew that they did not really want to let go of the hit series, but the series was problematic. The old Real Housewives of New York was not the same, and the cast did not mesh as they used to. Therefore, the network shelved it and eventually came back with a reboot. The hope was to capture some of the original magic from when it all began, this time with all-new, younger women. One of them was consultant Brynn Whitfield, a fiery redhead.
She was on for Seasons 14 and 15, but opted to exit before Season 16. Now, she is opening up about how that was more than she was willing to give. Brynn appeared on Gia Giudice’s podcast and shared how she wanted to be demoted almost instantaneously. It happened in Season 14, which was the beginning of the reboot, when she realized this was not for her:
“I even asked the first season … can I just be demoted to a friend of? I don’t want to have to have this filming and going to things, you know? So it was … really surprising when it aired [because] I thought I was on the side[lines]. And like, I’m in the mix of everything.”
Brynn was not having any fun and did not want to participate. It came to a point where she ripped her mic pack off while filming in the Hamptons. She was just done and had no desire to be a part of RHONY any longer. Brynn also hated how her co-stars spent every waking hour calling her names without proof. So, she went off to London, but was forced to return to the show because she was under contract.
She Will Be Missed
Those who have watched the RHONY reboot have admitted it is lacking. However, some stated that they will miss Brynn Whitfield when Season 16 comes back:
- Meh. I liked Brynn. I haven’t watched an episode since the first part of that reboot’s 2nd season. Erin and the rest were boring. Brynn at least had some humor and sass.
- I liked Brynn too. At least she had a sense of humor and could laugh at herself.
At the same time, some do not believe anything she says and feel she was fired:
-
- LIES!! You were fired. Doing Gia’s podcast is proof that you are already forgotten.
