The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released eight players following rookie camp at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.
American running back Peny Boone, American receiver Collin Brunstein, American defensive lineman Sundiata Anderson, American defensive lineman Kevin Orange Jr., American defensive lineman Nathan Pickering, American offensive lineman Dartanyan Tinsley, American defensive back D’Angelo Mandell and American defensive back Austin McKinney.
Saskatchewan moved four players to the retired list: American receiver Freddie Swain, American offensive lineman Justin Osborne, American defensive lineman Aaron Patrick and American kicker Alex Hale.
Meanwhile, Regina native Ryder Varga was moved to the six-game injured list.
The Roughriders selected Michigan State defensive back Malcolm Bell with the team’s first-round pick in the 2026 CFL Draft. The team’s other major offseason additions include defensive lineman James Vaughters and returner James Letcher Jr.
All CFL training camps are scheduled to open on Sunday, May 10. Saskatchewan plays its first preseason game against the Calgary Stampeders on Monday, May 18 and first regular-season game against the B.C. Lions on Saturday, June 13.
In 2025, the Riders finished first in the West Division standings with a 12-6 record. The team went on to defeat the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, marking the frachise’s first championship in 12 years.
