If you’ve been experiencing some issues on Crave on Fire TV, you’re not alone.
Over the past several days, a handful of Crave users took to Reddit to report that they’re seeing a black screen during content playback on their Fire TV devices. However, this hasn’t been happening with every title and audio can still be heard.
In the Reddit thread, users reported this issue across a variety of Fire TV models, from one from a few years ago to the more recent 4K Stick. They noted that the black screen persisted even after restarting and/or updating their Fire TV and Crave app.
For what it’s worth, I’ve encountered the same issue. I’ve been going through the entire James Bond series on Crave ahead of this month’s 007 First Light video game and have largely had no problems, but when I got to Die Another Day, I got the black screen on my Fire TV Stick 4K Select. I tried a few non-Bond titles, like Wuthering Heights (2026) and also had the same issue, but then other movies, like Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, were fine.
I reached out to Bell and a spokesperson confirmed that the company is aware that of this black screen issue affecting a “subset of content on Fire TV devices.” It added that there are no issues with playback on any other supported Crave device. (For what it’s worth, that’s been true for my experience, as I was able to successfully stream titles like Die Another Day on my smart TV and iPhone.)
Bell didn’t provide an estimated timeline for the fix, but at least we now know one is indeed coming.
