While Ella Langley rules the USA charts making her the biggest success so far in 2026 her crossover on the other side of the Atlantic is rather explosive too making me wonder for how much longer country music will dominate music.But on the other side in places like Texas there are some different sounds that are interesting enough.Dexter and the Moonrocks are an American rock band from Abilene, Texas formed in 2021. Combining elements of country and rock music, they have described their genre as “Western space grunge” and their first chart hit “Freakin Out” is pretty much exactly that.The song incorporates elements of 1990s alternative rock and 2000s pop-punk and emo. It has been described as “sadboi country” but i will call it a southern Nirvana vibe.. It’s not “radio-safe” pop it’s more like a high-octane rock song that just happens to have a hook you can’t shake.For some reason i dope this one…
