South Africa produced a dominant all-round performance to register a convincing 88-run victory over Netherlands in Match 24 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the County Ground in Bristol. After being asked to bat first, the Proteas piled up a massive 208/1 in 20 overs, thanks to a magnificent century from Tazmin Brits. Their bowlers then backed up the batting effort with a disciplined display to restrict the Netherlands to 120/8, sealing another emphatic win in the tournament.

Tazmin Brits headlines batting masterclass with brilliant unbeaten century

After Netherlands Women elected to bowl first, South Africa made the most of the opportunity to bat on an excellent surface. Openers Laura Wolvaardt and Brits provided a solid platform with an impressive opening partnership that put the Dutch attack under pressure from the outset.

Wolvaardt played a composed knock of 45 off 36 deliveries, striking six boundaries before becoming the only South African wicket to fall. Her departure, however, did little to slow the scoring rate as Brits continued to dominate the bowlers.

Brits produced one of the finest innings of the tournament, remaining unbeaten on 114 from just 69 balls. Her outstanding knock featured 15 fours and three towering sixes as she mixed elegant stroke play with clean hitting. She found excellent support from Annerie Dercksen, who played a fiery cameo of 37 not out off only 16 deliveries, smashing three fours and two sixes to propel South Africa beyond the 200-run mark. The pair ensured the innings finished on a commanding 208/1.

For the Netherlands, Hannah Landheer was the only bowler to claim a wicket, finishing with figures of 1/34 from four overs. Caroline de Lange was the most economical among the frontline bowlers, conceding just 22 runs in her four-over spell despite going wicketless.

Ayabonga Khaka and Chloe Tryon lead disciplined bowling effort

Chasing a daunting target of 209, Netherlands Women needed a flying start but struggled to keep pace with the required run rate. Opener Sanya Khurana showed positive intent with 36 off 30 balls, while Phebe Molkenboer anchored the innings with a patient 41 from 41 deliveries. Sterre Kalis also contributed 26, but the middle and lower order failed to build meaningful partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals.

South Africa’s bowlers executed their plans superbly throughout the innings. Ayabonga Khaka was the standout performer with the ball, claiming three wickets for just 19 runs in her three overs to derail the Dutch chase. Chloe Tryon also made a significant impact, picking up two wickets while conceding only 16 runs in her four-over spell.

Nadine de Klerk chipped in with one wicket, while Shabnim Ismail also struck once. Although Marizanne Kapp and Nonkululeko Mlaba went wicketless, both kept the scoring under control with economical spells, ensuring the Netherlands never threatened the massive target.
