29/04/2026 – The work-in-progress programme returns, with seven international festivals and markets showcasing their latest discoveries at Palais K

The Marché du Film’s dynamic work-in-progress platform, Goes to Cannes, returns for its 2026 edition with an expanded global line-up. Running from 15-18 May, the initiative will spotlight emerging talents and diverse storytelling through seven showcases curated by partner festivals and markets spanning five continents. Hosted at Palais K, the programme continues to serve as a key meeting point for projects in post-production to connect with sales agents, distributors and festival programmers seeking bold new voices.

This year’s partner line-up includes Adelaide Film Festival, Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), Festival do Rio, Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) and Ventana Sur. Each partner will present a curated selection of works in progress, to be introduced by the filmmakers and producers themselves during live pitching sessions.

The 2026 edition marks a notable expansion of the programme, welcoming AFRIFF and TIFF for the first time, further strengthening Goes to Cannes’ global reach. AFRIFF brings a selection highlighting African and diasporic voices, reflecting the growing dynamism of the continent’s film industry. Meanwhile, TIFF contributes a strong Japanese showcase, underlining its commitment to both emerging and established auteurs, especially given that Japan is the Country of Honour of this year (see the news). Ventana Sur also joins the platform, reinforcing Latin America’s presence with a diverse slate of international co-productions.

In addition, Goes to Cannes introduces two new awards alongside the returning Sideral Cinema prize. AH Media Production will present a €10,000 cash award, while Ciné+ OCS will offer a €15,000 prize dedicated to French co-production projects. Sideral Cinema will once again grant a €10,000 minimum guarantee to support the winning film’s completion and market launch. The awards will be presented during the official Goes to Cannes lunch.
