All sorts of figures become topics of discussion, for better or worse, on The View, from celebrities to politicians. This includes businessman and public official Elon Musk. However, one co-host on The View surprisingly offered him an apology during the live show.
Elon Musk Was Mentioned On The View During A Discussion Of An Upcoming Movie
Musk, considered one of the wealthiest people in the world, is known for his work with SpaceX and Tesla. He also served as Senior Advisor to the President following Trump’s inauguration in early 2025, though he left the Trump administration by the following May.
Over the years, Musk has been frequently mentioned on The View. Discussions have ranged from his role in the government to his ownership of X and his social media posts. However, during a recent episode, one co-host issued him an apology.
During a recent episode, the co-hosts weighed in on Christopher Nolan’s casting choices for an upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey. This includes reports that Lupita Nyong’o would play Helen of Troy and Elliot Page would play Achilles.
Goldberg started the discussion, sharing, “Elon Musk, you know, the man from South Africa who was OK with apartheid, is still railing against Lupita Nyong’o playing the fabled, most beautiful woman in the world, Helen of Troy.” Goldberg continued, sharing other criticisms about Page’s rumored casting. However, she then backtracked on what she had said about Musk, sharing, “Let me just say this first because I know will have upset people. I don’t know that he was an apartheid apologist. I don’t know anything about him, except that I’m not a fan, so I take it back.”
Whoopi Goldberg Also Ended The Segment With An Apology To Musk, Even After Her Co-Hosts Moved On From The Discussion
Behar then commented, “Well, he was there during that time.” Goldberg replied, “I’m not saying he was there. I don’t know that he was there. I wasn’t there… I don’t know if he was there. So, I’m saying, ‘OK.’”
The co-hosts continued discussing the rumored casting choices. Sunny Hostin mentioned that, in mythology, Princess Andromeda of the Perseus myth was Ethiopian, noting that Greek myths took influence from Egypt and North Africa. She also shared that she had taught mythology in classes. Alyssa Farah Griffin compared the situation to Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, also noting that she felt that Musk should be too busy with his companies to worry about a movie.

However, Goldberg ended the segment with another apology to Musk. As she shared, “Once again, I apologize for insinuating something that I don’t have any facts to back it up.”
