The Toronto Argonauts have ruled out American receiver Makai Polk for Saturday’s matchup against the Edmonton Elks.
Polk was limited by a foot injury on Tuesday, before missing practice entirely on Wednesday and Thursday. Through eight games this season, he has recorded 37 catches for 571 yards and six touchdowns, good enough for 10th in the CFL.
The 25-year-old broke onto the scene with Toronto in 2024, making 61 receptions for 1,024 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons that offseason but was subsequently waived, returning for the final seven games of last season with the Argos and collecting 30 catches for 356 yards and two majors.

Polk’s absence could open the door for Jake Herslow to make his 2026 debut. The 28-year-old caught 59 passes for 756 yards and nine touchdowns last season, but has yet to crack the lineup this year despite being healthy for the past several weeks.
Also ruled out for the Argonauts are Global punter John Haggerty (hamstring), National defensive back Ethan John (ankle), American defensive backs Robert Priester (Achilles) and Alex Teubner (hamstring), and American offensive lineman Kendall Randolph (knee). Canadian offensive lineman Ryan Hunter (knee) and Canadian linebacker Brian Harelimana (hamstring) are questionable.
The Toronto Argonauts (4-4) will visit the Edmonton Elks (6-3) at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday, August 15, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EDT. The Argonauts narrowly beat the Calgary Stampeders last week, while the Elks lost 48-30 against the Montreal Alouettes.
The weather forecast in Edmonton calls for 22 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN and CTV in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on TSN 1050 in Toronto or 880 CHED in Edmonton.
