Wagner Moura may be heading to one of Hollywood’s most stylish franchises. The Brazilian actor is reportedly in talks to join Warner Bros.’ upcoming Ocean’s prequel, starring Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper. (via THR)
While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the project is expected to serve as a prequel to Steven Soderbergh’s beloved Ocean’s Eleven trilogy, taking audiences back to the early days of the Ocean family. According to reports, the story is set against the backdrop of the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, promising the franchise’s signature blend of glamour, high-stakes crime and slick charisma.
Moura’s role has not been officially confirmed, though reports suggest he is being eyed to play the film’s main antagonist. If the deal closes, he would join an increasingly impressive cast led by Robbie and Cooper, with the latter also set to write, direct and produce the feature.
The project has been steadily gaining momentum at Warner Bros., especially after Bradley Cooper officially came aboard earlier this year. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie star Margot Robbie is also producing through LuckyChap, continuing her recent run of ambitious studio projects.
For Moura, the role would mark another major Hollywood step following acclaimed performances in The Secret Agent, Narcos and Civil War. Long celebrated in Brazilian cinema, the actor continues to expand his international presence with increasingly high-profile projects.
The film is currently scheduled for release on June 25th, 2027.
