Warner Bros has released the trailer for the legacy sequel Practical Magic 2, 28 years after the original film.
The first film followed a family of witches, with our leads, Sally and Gillian Owens, played by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, respectively, who try to learn magic after Gillian’s boyfriend suddenly dies, with the police growing suspicious of the sisters in the meantime.
The sequel sees Kidman and Bullock reprise their roles in their magical family as they must confront a dark curse that threatens to unravel it once and for all. Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing also reprise their roles in this next instalment, with new cast members including Joey King, Maisie Williams, and Lee Pace.
With famous actor Griffin Dunne not returning to direct this instalment, the next film is directed by Susanne Bier, who has worked with Bullock on the hit Netflix film Bird Box and with Kidman in 2020’s The Undoing.
Akiva Goldsman, Kelly Marcel, and Georgia Pritchett have penned the film, with Goldsman returning after co-writing the original film. Kidman and Bullock are also acting as producers on the sequel, which wasn’t the case on the 1998 original.
Practical Magic 2 releases in cinemas on September 11th.
