Are you ready to make television history? Robert Pattinson certainly is in A24’s upcoming film Primetime, watch first Teaser Trailer.
While the film currently has no confirmed release date, early details have already sparked major interest. From the footage and information released so far, Primetime appears to follow Pattinson as Chris Hansen, the iconic presenter of the hit American television series To Catch a Predator. Originally airing between 2004 and 2007, the programme became infamous for its elaborate sting operations aimed at exposing child predators, quickly cementing itself as one of the most controversial and culturally significant pieces of investigative television of its era. Hansen himself became synonymous with confrontational journalism, and the show’s influence can still be seen across modern true-crime media and online investigative content today.
If director Lance Oppenheim’s previous work is anything to go by, Primetime is unlikely to be a straightforward biopic. Oppenheim is known for crafting deeply voyeuristic and psychologically rich stories that blur the line between documentary realism and dramatic fiction. That suggests the film may explore not only the spectacle of live television, but also the moral ambiguity behind sensationalist journalism, celebrity culture and America’s fascination with public humiliation.
Beyond Pattinson, the cast for the film is reportedly stacked with acclaimed performers and rising talent, including the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Anna Faris, adding even more anticipation to one of A24’s most intriguing upcoming releases. Although many plot details remain tightly under wraps, Primetime already looks set to be a tense, uncomfortable and fascinating exploration of media ethics, performance and the blurred boundary between justice and entertainment.
Primetime is set to release later on in 2026
