Fox News reported last year that ABC’s The View rarely had conservative guests on the daytime talk show. That’s certainly changed this year. After welcoming conservative voices Savannah Chrisley and Marjorie Taylor Greene, Vice President JD Vance joined the panel for a surprising interview. Viewers expected fireworks between Vance and the hosts. But the real tension was between Whoopi Goldberg and one of her co-hosts. Keep reading for all the details.
JD Vance Joins The View
The panelists on The View are some of President Trump’s harshest critics. Vice President JD Vance hasn’t escaped their criticism. Despite the bad blood between the talk show and the White House, he joined them on June 16 for an interview.
He was on The View to promote his new memoir, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith. It’s one of many stops on a planned media tour to promote the book. The hosts were rather welcoming, considering their past comments about the Vice President. Alyssa Farah Griffin even presented JD Vance with a gift for his impending bundle of joy. He and his wife are expecting their fourth child in late July.
Joy Behar Question Shut Down
Tuesday, June 16, was a special day for The View. Joy Behar finally returned after a trip overseas. The comedian was in Europe to put on her play My First Ex-Husband in Paris and London. She’s one of the more outspoken critics of the Trump administration. She didn’t hold back when grilling Vice President Vance.
In one exchange, Joy Behar asked him to explain President Trump saying earlier this month that he loves inflation. JD Vance tried to deny that the President said that, but Joy Behar wouldn’t let it slide. Ana Navarro chimed in that President Trump did say, “I love the inflation.”
What he said, Ana, is that he loves the fact that the inflation is going to come down when this war is over. That’s what he said,” JD Vance responded. Joy Behar jumped in to comment, “That wasn’t — that’s not what he said, but that’s all right. Are you his interpreter or are you his vice president? Come on.”
The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, refused to let Joy Behar pepper the Vice President with a follow-up question. Joy Behar looked annoyed but brushed off the moment. However, things got tense between Whoopi Goldberg and another co-host.
Whoopi Goldberg Clashes With Co-Host During Tense Moment
Whoopi Goldberg loses her patience with the guests and her co-hosts quite often, but viewers were shocked at her behavior during JD Vance’s interview. Ana Navarro and the Vice President were in a debate over whether the current administration celebrates minorities. One of Whoopi Goldberg’s responsibilities is to keep the show moving. She tried to interrupt the discussion to go to a commercial break.
However, Ana Navarro kept speaking. Whoopi Goldberg put her head in her hands and exclaimed, “Ana, God, please!” As the show cut to a commercial, she could be seen and heard saying to her co-host, “Don’t do that!”
