Wind, Talk to Me by Stefan Đorđević
At the latest edition of the Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz (28 April – 3 May – read news), the MIOB New Vision Award 2026 was presented to Wind, Talk to Me by Stefan Đorđević, confirming the film’s growing trajectory across the European festival circuit.
Launched in 2017 by Crossing Europe, the Moving Images – Open Borders (MIOB) brings together a group of prominent European festivals with the aim of strengthening the circulation and contextualisation of arthouse cinema. The network promotes films beyond their initial premieres, encouraging dialogue between audiences, critics and filmmakers, and enhancing their international visibility through dedicated initiatives such as the New Vision Award and the MIOB in Shorts Award.
The €3,000 prize, awarded to feature-length fiction and documentary works that have already stood out within MIOB partner festivals, seeks to support bold cinematic voices and innovative storytelling approaches. The winning film will continue its journey across the network’s festivals, further expanding its reach.
Đorđević’s Wind, Talk to Me was singled out by a jury composed of Davide Abbatescianni, senior journalist at Cineuropa, Ivan Bakrač and Katharina Stumm. In their statement, they praised the film for its “deeply personal yet universally resonant exploration of grief”, highlighting its ability to blend documentary and fiction “with remarkable fluidity” while capturing memory with “warmth, humour and emotional honesty”.
The director described the award as “a gentle reminder to keep tending to the memory of those we love”, underlining the intimate nature of the project, which continues to resonate with audiences since its circulation began.
The 2026 nominees reflected the diversity of the MIOB network, with selections coming from six partner festivals: the Trieste Film Festival, FilmFestival Cottbus, European Film Festival Scanorama, European Film Festival Palić, Les Arcs Film Festival and Crossing Europe itself, each contributing two titles to the final selection.
