Ahead of its anticipated release later this year, where it is sure to be in the awards conversation if its predecessor is anything to go by, Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for The Social Reckoning, which you can watch below!
From award-winning writer Aaron Sorkin comes the companion piece to David Fincher’s The Social Network. The Social Reckoning is inspired by the true events of the ‘Facebook Files’ which exposed the social media’s most guarded secrets. Exposed by the young Facebook engineer Frances Haugen to Wall Street journalist Jeff Horwitz.
The film’s cast includes Mikey Madison (as Frances Haugen), Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen with Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong (as Mark Zuckerberg).
Could this be this year’s BFI London Film Festival opening film? Or will they go with a British film?
Synopsis | A companion piece to the hit film The Social Network, Sorkin’s original screenplay is based on the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal’s shocking exposé The Facebook Files. The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.
The Social Reckoning is in cinemas on October 9th.
