Howard is known for his radio series, The Howard Stern Show. Existing in some form since at least 1986, the show has broadcast from SiriusXM since 2006.
Stern has three daughters whom he shares with his first wife, Alison Berns: Emily Beth, Debra Jennifer, and Ashley Jade. Emily, his eldest daughter, is a rabbi, with her and her sisters being known to have avoid the fame surrounding their father’s life.
In a resurfaced 2015 interview with The New York Post, shared by The U.S. Sun, Emily admitted that she struggled with growing up with a celebrity father. Speaking with the Post, Emily shared, “My dad always instilled in us, ‘Everybody’s watching you.’” She expressed that he always maintained that he “always said it was for our protection.” However, she attributed it to his “narcissism.”
Emily continued, “I was alone. The belief that we were so different made it unhealthy. Maybe because he was disconnected from the world, he experienced so much shame about who he was.”
An Inside Source Also Recently Weighed In On Howard Stern’s Former Staff
As Emily continued, she felt that her father was partially to blame for troubles in her love life at the time. Emily admitted, “It’s rare I go on dates [now.] My dad’s emphasis on sexuality [in his career] kept me out of the dating ring [when I was younger].” In spite of all of this, Emily shared that she was “close with both my parents” at the time.
Notably, this comes out as Howard has been making headlines with layoffs among his staff, as his show will shift from three shows a week to one. Speaking with the outlet, a source claimed that the former staff members didn’t have much of a severance package.
The insider shared, “You’d think Howard would have been generous with these guys, some who worked for him for decades, but nope! Each decade of service to the show got just two months of severance, and a horrible NDA saying they’ll lose even that if they say a [expletive] word.” As previously reported, his former executive assistant Leslie Kuhn had attempted to sue Stern and his current wife, Beth, over claims of a hostile work environment and unenforceable non-disclosure agreements.
