Apple is making an effort to catch its competitors in the smart glasses market. Despite entering the scene long after smart glasses giants like XReal, Meta, and RayNeo, Apple is rumoured to release multiple styles that can go head-to-head with the big names on the market.
Apple is developing four different frame designs, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. Each design offers a unique look, deviating from the numerous designs shaped like sunglasses. Among the frame designs are a large rectangular frame, similar to competitors’ products on the market, a slimmer rectangular design, as well as larger and smaller variants of oval or circular frames. Apple is also working on releasing its specs with a variety of colours, including black, ocean blue and light brown, reports Bloomberg.
Apple’s upcoming smart glasses aim to differentiate themselves from the second-gen Ray-Ban Metas while competing at the same level. While Apple’s glasses will be able to capture photos and videos like other models, they will be able to better sync with the iPhone, tying it to the Apple ecosystem for easy editing, sharing, calls, music and voice assist, according to Gurman.
The report says the glasses could be revealed by the end of 2026 or early 2027, likely releasing sometime next year.
