Canadian Football League commissioner Stewart Johnston understands fans will have varying thoughts about eight out of nine teams qualifying for the Grey Cup playoffs starting in 2027. “I think we’re going to have lots of opinion, lots of reaction, and certainly lots of people might say, ‘Hey, things are working great.’ And we are, we’re in a really good position, we’ve got a lot of great momentum with the league, but we’re looking forward,” Johnston said on TSN 1050’s OverDrive. “I think the conversation that this passionate fan base brings to a debate like…
WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans rejected legislation from Democrats on Tuesday that would have required President Donald Trump to end the U.S. energy blockade on Cuba unless he receives approval from Congress. The vote on the war powers resolution showed how Republicans continue to stand behind Trump as he acts unilaterally to exert American force in a range of global conflicts, including Venezuela, Iran and Cuba — one of the U.S.’s closest neighbors yet a longtime adversary. Democrats have repeatedly forced votes on legislation to put a check on the president’s ability to deploy military force in those conflicts, but…

The Winnipeg native accepted a scholarship offer from Purdue University, a Power Four NCAA program in the Big Ten Conference leading into the 2025 campaign. He began the season in a depth role and never got the chance to start as the Boilermakers suffered only one injury along the offensive line all season. In the team’s season-ending matchup against rival Indiana University, Purdue gave Vaccaro some reps at guard. He held his own against the eventual College Football playoff national…

A State Department spokesperson told Fast Company that the limited-edition design is expected to roll out in July, and will be “available for any American citizen who applies for a passport when the…

A bunch of inauthentic YouTube videos have amassed tens of millions of views by promoting U.S. annexation and separatism to Albertans, according to a new report. The findings, compiled by several researchers for the Canadian Digital Media Research Network (CDMRN), discovered that around 20 accounts have been sharing videos that peddle in lies and propaganda that have amassed over 40 million collective views. “These videos contain frequent and obvious lies, drawing on real news stories to reach exaggerated conclusions designed to exploit political divisions,” said the organization. “Because these channels offer no identifying information to real humans or organizations, nor…
SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco has settled a two-year legal fight with its neighbor across the bay that will allow the city of Oakland to include “San Francisco” in its airport’s name if it doesn’t highlight the two words in any way. The settlement announced Tuesday allows Oakland’s airport to be called “Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport,” but it bars the city from highlighting “San Francisco” or “San Francisco Bay” in fonts, highlights, different colors or any other way. It also requires Oakland to use the word “bay” right after “San Francisco,” and it bans the use of the word…
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Eight candidates for California governor prepared for another televised debate Tuesday in a crowded, muddled race, with mail ballots headed to voters in less than a week. Rival Democrats and Republicans — some still little-known to voters — will be making the case to replace outgoing Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is barred from seeking a third term. The contest in the nation’s most populous state is unfolding at a time when Sacramento is struggling with a long-running homeless crisis, wildfire insurance shortages, projected budget shortfalls and staggering housing costs. Voters, meanwhile, are saddled with growing…
