Casting announcements keep on coming for season six of Only Murders in the Building, which will be set and is currently filming in the UK, and some big names are on the list.
Disney has revealed that David Tennant (Rivals), Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton), Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who), Jim Broadbent (Harry Potter), Kathryn Hunter (Black Doves), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), and Adrian Lukis (How to Make a Killing) are all joining the cast of the hit mystery-comedy series.
They join recently-announced recurring cast including Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous), Sean Teale (Skins), Simone Ashley (Bridgerton), Amar Chadha-Patel (Willow), Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper), Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game), Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters), Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Geri Halliwell-Horner (Spice World), Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag), Anjana Vasan (Wicked Little Letters), Jane Horrocks (Life is Sweet), Derek Jacobi (Gosford Park), and Lesley Nicol (Downton Abbey).
The series follows three eccentric neighbours—Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez)—who find purpose, friendship, and chaos in solving murders through their true-crime podcast, ultimately turning their New York apartment building into a playground of mystery and fun.
Although the storyline for the sixth season is currently under wraps, season five left off with the trio listening to Cinda Canning’s (Tina Fey) newest true-crime podcast, where she recounts the story of a red-haired woman accused of killing a royal descendant in London, who she claims was innocent and sent to the United States for safety. Shortly after, that woman staggers to the gates of the Arconia and is revealed to be Cinda, having been fatally attacked in relation to this London-based scandal.
Only Murders in the Building is co-created and written by Steve Martin and John Hoffman. The upcoming season is being produced by Hoffman, Martin, Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, Jennifer Crittenden, and Gabrielle Allan.
Seasons 1-5 are now streaming on Disney+.
