Brandon Pfaadt threw six quality innings and Tyler Locklear went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs on Thursday to help the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks earn a 10-6 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

The standalone game was a make-up from June 25, when the clubs had their series finale postponed due to weather.

Pfaadt (5-1) won his fifth straight game, allowing two runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out one for the Diamondbacks, who won their third straight and ninth of their last 11. Gabriel Moreno tallied three hits and drove in two runs for Arizona, which posted a five-run eighth inning and had 16 total hits. Adrian Del Castillo and Ildemaro Vargas also finished with three hits apiece.

Michael McGreevy (4-8) threw 6 1/3 innings of four-run, seven-hit ball, striking out three and walking three for St. Louis, which dropped its sixth game in eight tries. Lars Nootbaar drove in three runs for the Cardinals.

Arizona threatened in the opening inning, as Geraldo Perdomo walked and Moreno singled to place runners on the corners with one out. McGreevy escaped, though, getting Max Kepler to ground into an inning-ending double play.

St. Louis began the bottom of the first with JJ Wetherholt’s leadoff single before Jordan Walker’s RBI double gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. Alec Burleson followed with a base hit before Nootbaar’s single to center doubled the margin.

Arizona answered in the top of fourth. Kepler drew a leadoff walk before advancing to third on Del Castillo’s double. Tim Tawa then drove in the visitors’ first run with a sacrifice fly. After McGreevy retired Vargas, Locklear hit his first home run of the season to give the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead.

Arizona tacked on in the fifth, as Corbin Carroll began the frame with his 12th triple of the year, before scoring on Moreno’s sac fly.

After McGreevy retired Ryan Waldshmidt for the first out of the seventh, Justin Bruihl entered in relief.

In the top of the eighth, Moreno doubled and Del Castillo slashed an RBI single off Bruihl, pushing the Arizona lead to 5-2. Matt Svanson then entered for St. Louis, walking Tawa and allowing Vargas’ single to load the bases.

The Diamondbacks then blew the game open, as Locklear and Nolan Arenado hit back-to-back run-scoring singles, before Carroll’s sac fly extended the lead to 8-2. Moreno continued the parade with an RBI single, his second hit of the inning.

Arenado drove in another run with a two-out single in the ninth.

Ryan Thompson allowed Bryan Torres and Nootbaar’s two-run singles in the ninth, but retired Masyn Winn to end the game.
