This time around, it’s Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue) who takes on the mantle of He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, who also appears for the first time on film as Prince Adam, He-Man’s alter ego. Camila Mendes plays Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, James Purefoy as King Randor, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Kristen Wiig as the voice of “Roboto”, Jared Leto as the villainous Skeletor and Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms star in the film.
Directed by Travis Knight, director of Kubo & The Two Strings and Bumblebee, the script is written by Chris Butler, as well as Adam and Aaron Nee (The Lost City) and David Callaham. The Nee Brothers, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch wrote the story.
Based on the popular toys from Mattel and the Filmation cartoon series from 1983, Masters of the Universe is the first live-action film of He-Man since 1987’s version, which starred Dolph Lundgren in the title role and Frank Langella as Skeletor.
Synopsis:
In MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, Director Travis Knight brings the legendary franchise back to the big screen in this epic live-action adventure. After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia, where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.
Masters Of The Universe opens in UK cinemas on June 3rd.
