For some actors and celebrities, being asked to join Dancing with the Stars is a huge, once-in-a-lifetime honor. For others, like John Stamos, they wish people would stop asking. Keep reading to find out why the Fuller House actor will never join the dancing show.
John Stamos Opens Up
It’s been a season of opening up for John Stamos. Just earlier this summer, he explained just how low his life got after his ex-wife, Rebecca Romijn, left him. As previously reported, the pair met in 1994 and quickly married just four years later. However, unfortunately for John, that marriage didn’t last long. They got divorced in 2004. He reveals that that marriage ending was the start of a major alcohol problem for him.
“That’s when I really started to kind of drink a lot,” he shares.
Apparently, it wasn’t his idea to split up, and he even talks about it in his memoir.
“She wanted to. It took me a long time to get over it. But I have to say that she has a nice life; she married another guy, she has kids. They’re doing great. I met him recently, which was very interesting.”
Of course, things change, and he later remarried in 2018 with Caitlin McHugh.
However, his drinking problem isn’t the only thing John is talking about this summer.
What He Won’t Do
Not only is John talking about his past, but he’s talking about his future. Which apparently doesn’t include being on Dancing with the Stars. However, the feelings apparently aren’t mutual between John and the network. He says he’s been asked “every single season,” Page Six reports.
While many stars would love to be cast on the show, John doesn’t want any part of it. He says that show is good because of the people who look like fools. The actor doesn’t want to be one of those people that gets made fun of for their bad dancing skills.
“What makes that show good is people suffering and looking like fools,” he says. He also notes that they go through a lot to be on that show, including a lot of foot pain. Which is true; the stars do go through rigorous training in hopes of not looking like ‘fools.’
“They’re breaking their feet, calluses. I don’t want that,” he says.
Apparently, none of this is of any interest to the star. In fact, he wishes they would stop asking him.
“I said, ‘Don’t ever ask me again,’ I’m never gonna do that show.”
