L7’s original lineup reunited in 2015, first teased on the Kickstarter page for their documentary, L7: Pretend We’re Dead. That led to several years of touring and 2019’s Scatter the Rats, their first album in 20 years, but the ’90s grunge band will officially say goodbye with a world tour — appropriately dubbed The Last Hurrah.
“When L7 decided to release a documentary in 2015, we thought maybe we would take one last victory lap around the sun by playing some shows,” vocalist/guitarist Donita Sparks says. “Instead, that lap turned into 11 more years of touring, sweat, new music, and reconnecting with the fans who made this all possible in the first place. Looking out into the crowd seeing longtime supporters rocking out next to a new generation of L7 fans has been the most powerful and humbling part of this chapter. We are deeply grateful and ready to give our audiences one last, loud, fun, and hopefully unforgettable night of rock ’n’ roll.”

L7 appeared on the cover of Alternative Press in 1997, reflecting on the experience for our 400th issue. “No dogs were harmed in the shooting of these photos,” Sparks said of the concept. It was born out of her own genius: “Dogs like sniffing women’s crotches.” They borrowed pets from their friends and partners — and to get the shot, the band taped wraps of peanut butter to their legs.
