Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda known for his work on Hamilton, Tick Tick…Boom! and original songs for Disney including Moana and Encanto, has penned a new song for Disney’s live-action reimagining of Moana.
“Along the Way“, the new single premiered on BBC’s Radio 2 Breakfast show this morning and is performed by Dwayne Johnson, who will return as demigod Maui; Auli‘i Cravalho, the voice of Moana in the animated films and Catherine Laga’aia, who will be portraying Moana in the live-action film.
On his work on the original soundtrack for the film, Lin-Manuel Miranda said:
“It was such a joy to drop back into the world of ‘Moana’ again and write ‘Along The Way.’ Auliʻi and Catherine’s voices blend so beautifully, and writing for Dwayne as Maui is just pure fun. I’m grateful that we were able to create something special for this brand-new version of our wayfinder’s story.”

The soundtrack for the live-action Moana will be available on 26th June with original songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa’i with a deluxe version expected on 8th July and the score is expected to release on 10th July. Moana also opens on 10th July, in UK, Irish and U.S cinemas.
