ZAGREB: Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard are joining Paweł Pawlikowski, Joanna Kulig, Ruben Östlund, Michael Seresin, Liam Cunningham, and Michel Franco as special guests of the 3rd edition of Slano Film Days (16 – 20 June 2026) currently underway in the Croatian village of Slano.
They are joined by 14 established directors and actors from the Balkan region: directors Bruno Anković (Croatia), Igor Bezinović (Croaria), Stefan Dordević (Serbia), Ilir Hasanaj (Kosovo), Ester Ivakić (Slovenia), Sara Stijović (Montenegro), and Georgi M. Unkovski (North Macedonia), and actors Dino Bajrović (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Jelena V. Dukić (Montenegro), Milica Gojković (Serbia), Kosovare Krasniqi (Kosovo), Tamara Ristoska (North Macedonia), Ana Marija Veselčić (Croatia), and Mina Svajger (Slovenia).
The concept of this slow film festival initiated by Mirsad Purivatra, fostering authentic discussions around cinema, has been embraced by all of the national film centres in the region, he Slovenian Film Centre, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, and the Film Centre of Montenegro, as well as Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina are backing it.
