As the United States is set to celebrate its “Semiquincentennial,” one Freedom 250 event has been surrounded by controversy after various groups have been cancelling their scheduled performances. Since then, one figure has weighed in on the event. This was Megyn Kelly, who mused about what’s going on behind the scenes.

Megyn Kelly Felt That The Freedom 250 Festival Event Had A Dual Purpose For The Trump Administration

Throughout the United States, people are set to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. Events have include the mixed martial-arts UFC Freedom 250 event and “Freedom Trucks” riding around the country to serve as mobile museums.

One event that has been surrounded by recent controversy, however, is the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The event, which was organized by Freedom 250, was initially marketed with performances from nine artists.

However, the majority of these acts have since withdrawn, including Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Morris Day, The Commodores and Young MC.. This has since led to reports of President Donald Trump himself suggesting cancelling the music performances altogether.

Recently, one figure who has weighed in on the event was former Fox News personality Megyn Kelly, who dubbed the proceedings “a disaster from start to finish” during an episode of her “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast. Claiming that the event was meant to honor Trump’s birthday, which falls on June 14, as well as the “Semiquincentennial,” the namesake host felt that she found little support for the proceedings after an online search.

Kelly shared, “I tried to find somebody defending it. I went to the Republicans, whom I follow on X, and trust me, I follow thousands of them. They were all ripping it, too. No one was impressed. It may sound mean, but it’s true. No one was impressed. Everyone thought this was kind of a joke.”

C+C Music Factory’s Freedom Williams Has Also Opened Up About The Event

Kelly mused that artists were afraid of backlash over appearing at an event heavily associated with the current administration. She continued, “I think they saw the universal reaction to this lineup as, I’m sorry, pathetic. It was a very negative reaction across the board, and they said, ‘Oh my God, I can’t be a part of that.’”

Currently, C+C Music Factory is still set to perform. Recently, in a post on Instagram, frontman Freedom Williams shared that he wasn’t told that the event was connected to Trump before agreeing to perform. Since then, he shared that he soon received angry messages from critics. He recalled being told, “‘We’re gonna cancel C+C Music Factory, this is going to be a terrible show.’”

While not agreeing with Trump’s politics, Williams still expressed interest in performing. He continued, “I don’t f*** with Trump. I don’t give a f*** about Trump,” Williams said. “I know the type of f****** anarchy he creates. But the day I let you motherf****** tell me what to do is the day I die.”
