According to Hesson, Pakistan are not limiting themselves to just two options but are actively preparing several players capable of delivering impactful finishes in the closing overs.
“Abdul Samad is developing as a finisher, while Shadab Khan is also performing a similar role. We are preparing several other players to become finishers as well,” Hesson said.
He explained that the team’s long-term strategy revolves around assigning specialist roles instead of expecting every batter to adapt to different situations. Hesson believes this approach will create greater depth in Pakistan’s batting line-up and provide the flexibility required in modern one-day cricket. The coach also highlighted that the ongoing white-ball training camp, along with the upcoming National Champions Cup, will offer players valuable opportunities to sharpen their finishing skills under competitive conditions.
