Global punter Aidan Laros has been claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The news came one day after he was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The six-foot-two, 220-pounder was the first overall pick in the 2026 CFL Global Draft by the Ottawa Redblacks. He signed with the Buccaneers after going unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Laros played at the University of Kentucky in 2024 and 2025, punting 82 times for an average of 44.9 yards. He was named preseason second-team All-SEC by Phil Steele and appeared on the Ray Guy Award watchlist.
The native of Capetown, S.A. started his collegiate career at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte before transferring to the University of Tennessee at Martin. He was named a first-team FCS All-American in 2023 as well as the Conference Special Teams Player of the Year.
Laros’ father, Adrian, played professional rugby in France and South Africa for a combined 17 seasons.
