Pierce Brosnan Joins Chris Hemsworth in ‘Extraction 3’ Cast

Acting legend Pierce Brosnan has joined the cast of Netflix’s action franchise Extraction 3, starring Chris Hemsworth. Additional cast announcements include Don Lee, Joe Taslim, Chi Lewis-Parry and Siena Agudong.

Lee recently wrapped Tygo, a Korean-language series in the franchise, so it seems there will be some crossover with his character. He plays a former child soldier turned mercenary named Tygo.

The logline for Extraction 3 has not been revealed, and neither have Brosnan’s and the new casts’ roles. What we do know is that Hemsworth is returning as Australian black ops mercenary Tyler Rake, alongside Idris Elba as Alcott, and Golshifteh Farahani as Tyler’s partner, Nik Khan.

The Extraction films are based on the graphic novel Ciudad from Ande Parks and illustrator Fernando Leon Gonzalez. The Russo Brothers’ AGBO and Hemsworth’s Wild State produce.

Sam Hargrave is directing the third instalment following his directorial success with Extraction 1 and 2, released in 2020 and 2023 respectively. David Weil penned the script, which is based on a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo & Anthony Russo.

The first film was met with mixed reviews yet became the most-watched original feature in Netflix history, thanks to a tally of over 99 million viewers hit within the first four weeks following its debut. The sequel was reported to have gathered 5.3 million viewers, totalling around 8.5 million hours spent in streaming during its first week on the platform, and was also nominated for Best Action Stunts at the 6th Hollywood Critics Association Midseason Film Awards.

Producers for the third installment include Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Ari Costa for AGBO. Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson produce for Wild State. Also producing are Hargrave; Patrick Newall; Eric Gitter; and Peter Schwerin. Shelby Malone and Steven V. Scavelli are exec producing.

Filming is taking place across Australia and Europe. It’s expected to wrap in October.

Brosnan is currently starring in Paramount+’s hit crime drama Mobland, which is heading into its third season. He also stars in Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club, based on Richard Osman’s bestselling book.
